Christopher Hitchens scored a
televisual 'Coup de Grace'
whereby ....
-
on the day of the
Hutton
Inquiry's
hearing from Britain's Intelligence Chief about the contents of the Iraq
dossier
(in September 2002)
-
... on the day before the
British Defence Secretary
is due to appear before the Hutton Inquiry
-
during the week that Blair is to do
so
-
in an enquiry which seeks to clarify
the British Government having effectively condemned the BBC through
Alastair Campbell's attack on it

Featuring legal counsel and the
views of Goffrey Robertson QC
a leading and very authoritative Human Rights Lawyer in the UK |
The BBC chooses to schedule what is
the first (to my knowledge)
showing of Hitchens' documentary outlining the staggering truth of why
the US Government/Administration continues to oppose legal
accountability
and ends with a very packed review of recent history and
of how 911 is the anniversary of the Chilean dictator Pinochet's overthrow
of Allende [delivered with visuals of a bombshell] before then
switching to explain
that 911 in 2001 was the date the news of a writ being served against
Kissinger
for responsibility over the Schneider assassination in Chile by the CIA,
was overshadowed by other events on that day in New York.
[footage showing the Washington Post
Newspaper headline story of the writt against Kissinger, pans to a photo
of the second 911 plane impact
on the World Trade Centre Tower
and then to video footage of Kissinger visiting ground zero]
"It's a testimony to what evil can do
in the world" Kissinger is seen to say to Mayor Giulliani [when asked to
comment]
"As the former Secretary of State
surveyed the wreckage, a campaign had already begun to see that those
responsible for the loss of innocent life
be captured and brought to justice."
"I don't think you can have it
metaphorically more perfect than that"
says Christopher Hitchens speaking to camera
"that the hunt for those who will use force against civilians or against
democracy"
(visuals of Milosevic, Idi Amin, Suharto)
"for short term [pause] or fanatical aims of their own,
is now a hunt in which the whole world takes part "
[visuals of signatories to the ICC including Tony Blair, Yasser Arafar,
The Dalai Lama]
"There can be no exception".
All revolutions are thought
impossible until they happen,
then they become inevitable.
Well, one of the things that have
happened is that this movement
has acquired an air of inevitability
139 nations have become signatories
of the United Nation's International Criminal Court
Kissinger - and his entire power
structure
would be endangered if that were to be the case.
Britain IS however a signatory and so
Blair IS accountable
for the legality or not of his Administration's actions
in support of the Bush Administration's
war on Iraq
... the continuing attack against the
Palestinians
and effectively continuing support of Sharon
(who should also be tried for crimes against humanity)
,,,, the Iraq war was conducted in
flagrant violation
of the overwhelming opinion within the United Nations
and those responsible must be held accountable
Blair is the susceptible link and
easier to "get at first"
but perhaps the American people will still wake up and impeach Bush
as the case against his administration stinks far more than Nixon's did!
Although Cyprus was not a major
enough issue
(in the balance of time/significance decisions made in preparing this
documentary)
(of the catalogue of charges against Kissinger)
contained in the documentary
-
the attempted assassination of
Archbishop Makarios of Cyprus
-
the countenancing of the Greek
Military Dictatorship's coup in Cyprus
-
the Turkish invasion of Cyprus
... which led to my family along with
many other families being deprived of our homes
for over 30 years of continuing obstructionism
... when endless 'reports' to the US Congress regarding Turkey's offensive
use of weapons despite conditions prohibiting their use other than
defensively
(within Nato or outside of it)
(during the invasion of Cyprus)
... exactly in the same way as
outlined in the documentary about how
US Administrations have been manipulating their reports to Congress,
regarding
the people of East Timor in their oppression by Indonesia
('Progressive forces' tried to "get Maggie Thatcher"
on that issue also, the efforts failed)
so her "dark power" influence on geopolitics in the closing decades of the
20th century
might yet receive the kind of treatment which is advocated against
Kissinger
and the head might yet retroactively
be judged
to have been justifiably knocked off that statue
For 30 years successive British and
US Governments
have continued their support of a Turkish Government
which persists in a view that it has "solved" the Cyprus Problem
and that it's invasion was a "Peace" operation to re-establish order in
Cyprus
(which continue despite rulings by the ECHR currently)
... a position which current British
and US policy still has not challenged,
despite it's clear condemnation by a European axis which does strive to be
in
support of principles of international justice and "the right way"
The actions of the actual power
brokers have urged legtimising
the gains by Turkey in Cyprus
through certain elements inserted by Lord Hannay into the Kofi Annan plan
which was a Machiavellian effort to
"solve" the Cyprus problem
through imposed referendums which
would have seen Cyprus
having been maneuvred into de facto acceptance of partition
and legitimation of the acquisition
of territory by conquest
by the pressured consent of it's own people
These charges should be added to
those currently not being discussed
in an "international order" which can only address 'some at least'
of the most offensive crimes against humanity in the world
while the issue of Cyprus again ... "remains
invisible and unmentioned"
in the documentary of the crimes which Kissinger SHOULD
be held accountable for
Hitchens' writings regarding
Kissinger's record on Cyprus are clear however,
and outlined in a book which has already been featured on this website
(on a page here)
(it's not Hitchens who does not recognise Kissinger's effect on the Cyprus problem)
The under-handed and duplicitous
efforts of the Blair Administration
to "help" solve the Cyprus problem through the actions of it's Special
Representative Lord Hannay is not clearly focused on within this website,
though it would make an interesting subject for someone studying
international politics at posgraduate level.
The subject of 'recent' efforts to
solve the Cyprus issue (during Jan-March 2003)
is a major feature within this website, and consists of
a considerable archive
